Directors...

The Four Director Leadership Model

Directors serve as team leaders for the program at each week of camp. We operate each directing team with four leaders to divide responsibilites and roles to make each camp highly successful.

Leadership Team Responsibilities

Spiritual Coordinator (team leader)

  • Oversee all aspects of the week, focusing on the spiritual development and progression of the campers.
  • Choose or create age and program appropriate curriculum.
  • Speak/coordinate speakers for teachings during worship.
  • Coordinate lesson times.
  • Lead other director members of your team.
  • Oversee camper recruitment.

Counselor Coordinator

  • Recruit counseling staff. 
  • Work with Impact Staff to provide counselors with appropriate training.
  • Oversee counseling staff during their week of camp.
  • Provide opportunities for the counseling staff to grow spiritually.
  • Check-in with each counselor daily.

Activity Coordinator

  • Plan and coordinate activities and games for the week of camp.
  • Create and maintain the written schedule for the week.
  • Facilitate changes made to schedule (if any) throughout the week.
  • Prepare back-up plans for rainy days.

Praise & Worship Coordinator

  • Plan and prepare for all worship times.

 

Expectations of Directors

Camp Directors demonstrate the attitude and actions of a team player, create a vision and plan for the week of camp and enable and encourage others to do ministry.

Specific Responsibilities To:

Campers

  • Assign cabins.
  • Greet them at on-site check-in.
  • Guide Spiritual Development.

Counselors

  • Recruit quality leaders.
  • Train them using Impact 2818 Outdoor Ministries standards and guidelines.
  • Supply them with resources.
  • Check in with counselors daily throughout camp and assist with camper discipline.

Curriculum

  • Choose age & program appropriate curriculum.
  • Work with Camp Manager to create age and program appropriate curriculum.
  • Incorporate curriculum into daily camp plans.

Programming

  • Coordinate with the Impact Program Manager the week’s schedule.
  • Plan and lead evening and special activities.

Site

  • Follow & uphold the camp rules.
  • Help keep the buildings & grounds clean.

Great Directors Must:

  • Pray and be spiritually connected with their team.
  • Set the tone ~ positive and excited!!
  • Support their team.
  • Be the leader.
  • See and work in the "Big Picture".
  • Know your team on a personal level.
  • Plan ahead; Be prepared; Organize details.
  • Communicate with Camp Manager pre-season and during camp.
